The last encierro today, the last rocket launched (see photo) and the last chance for the locals to enjoy a day of fiesta here in Calasparra as this year´s Ferie de la Arroz reaches its conclusión.
Today´s bull run, with bulls from the stockbreeder Cebada Gago, took just two minutes and seven seconds. One young runner was treated for a twisted ankle incurred trying to avoid being gored by one of the bulls.
All the shops were shut but the bars and restaurants were doing a brisk trade as Calasparrians and visitors alike squeezed as much partying as they could into the final day of the fiesta. Sunshades outside most commercial premises provided some relief from the late September sun for the party goers sitting out on the pavements, drinking and eating with family and friends.
