There was a high level of support in Calasparra for the general strike in education called by the national Platform for State Education yesterday.
Teachers and students alike stayed away from school and took part in public protests against the Organic Law for a Better Education, the last reform of the Education Minister, José Ignacio Wert.
Some 90% of pupils and 70% of the teaching staff at the Esperanza Primary School observed the strike and at the other primary school, Los Molinos, 67% of the pupils stayed away while only one teacher took industrial action.
At the High School 100% of pupils went on strike accompanied by 60% of the pupils.
