IU DEFEND DECISION TO OPPOSE MUNICIPAL BUDGET

The United Left party of Calasparra has defended their decision to vote against the
Municipal Budget of 2012 in an attempt to change the way the Town Hall runs its affairs including presenting a budget for the year in the final quarter.
In a statement the IU say that bearing in mind the bad results of the previous years’ Municipal Budgets the current management of the financial affairs this reduces our confidence in their ability to manage the town´s finances.”
“We are looking for a different way of managing the financial affairs of local government,” continues the statement, “and we insist on seeing a draft of the budget before it is presented to the full Council Meeting. We also remind the current Government that we are in November and they want us to approve the budget for this year now: that is an attempt to manage the local economy in the final month of the year.”
The IU also complain that the Town Hall has ignored various requests and complaints made by the party which fails to recognize the importance of a party that has the casting vote.
“They need to take into account the results of the Municpal Elections last year when the goervn 9ing PSOE los their absolute majority and the IU won a seat which breaks the equality between the two parties.”
