The Local Police have issued advice following changes in the law regarding the use of scooters (patinetes) in Spain.
The following norms have been in vigor since 2024, according to the Local Police, and should be respected to avoid fines and for reasons of personal safety.

Maximum speed 25kph (obligatory)
Certificate VMP: Scooters sold from January 22, 2024, must have a Certificate of Circulation and a plaque that identifies the manufacturer.
If you have an older model you can continue to use it until January 22, 2027

Driver Safety
Helmets: Their use is obligatory.
Alcohol/Drugs: The same restrictions apply to all drivers except the NIL limit for minors but with the same fines as adults.
Lights: Obligatory use of lights and reflectors (front, back and sides) at night and when there is poor visibility.
