A new era for Calasparra beckons as the first Mayoress in the history of
the town was sworn in at a special ceremony last night.
Teresa García was duly elected as Mayoress and President of the Chamber and the
previous Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, handed her the Mayor´s baton.
In her first speech as Mayoress, Teresa Garcia, said she appreciated the recognition
of women in Calasparra, of her Government team and of the employees at the Town
Hall and their families.
“I will work with enthusiasm for the town I love so much,” she said.
Jose Velez gave up the position of Mayor of Calasparra to accept the post of Government
Delegate for the region of Murcia.
