The company, Gas Natural Fenosa has been fined a massive 3.27 million euros by the National Competition Commission for deliberately blocking the free commercialization of gas to the consumer.
The fine, which follows a fine of 61 millions for the electricity companies for breaking competition rules, is the result of an action brought by Iberdrola two years ago.
The Competition Commission accuses Natural Gas Fenosa of placing obstacles in the access to the market for the supply of gas by failing to process applications for a change of supplier. Iberdrola also accuse the company of providing “misleading and detrimental” information about competitors.
Natural Gas, which has announced it is “totally disagrees” with the Commission´s decision, will appeal against the fine.
