The region of Murcia has given suppliers of vending machines in hospitals a month to comply with new nutritional guidelines to ensure healthier choices.
The days of chocolate and processed foods, currently offered in the vending machines, are numbered. They will be replaced by healthier options of nuts, dried fruit, wholemeal sandwiches, fruit, salads etc. Sugar drinks will be replaced by sugar free juices and products must be low fat and salt free.
