The Department of Tourism, Culture and Environment has proposed a 30,000 euro grant for work on the the cave drawings in the Abrigos del Pozo under the scheme (BIC) for Cultural Assets of Interest (Bienes de Interés Cultural).
The work on the cave drawings, declared part of the List of World Heritage sites, includes protection and diffusion of the site.
The grant would coincide with the 20th anniversary of the declaration of the site as part of the Heritage of Humanity and the Cave Drawings of the Mediterranean Arc .
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, has declared himself “very satisfied and grateful” for the interest of the Department which will ensure the conservation and diffusion of the cave drawings uniquely located in Calasparra.
