YELLOW WEATHER WARNING FOR STORMS AND TORRENTIAL RAIN

The Met Office (AEMET) has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for the North West Murcia region, that includes Calasparra, for torrential rain, strong winds and storms from 6pm today, Sunday, until midnight on Tuesday.
AEMET warns there is a 40 to 70% possibility of 20 litres of rainfall per square metre in an hour, storms and strong winds this evening and night with the possibility of intense accumulation of rain and flooding.
The inclement weather is due to the forming of a DANA* over Spain that will affect us for several days and will be worse on Monday. There is currently generalized rainfall over most of Spain.
*A DANA is a low pressure wseather system or depression in high levels of the atmosphere and that is totally separated form the general circulation of the atmosphere.

Ensure anything that may be damaged by rainfall or blown in the wind is secured or stored inside.
In case of storms and torrential rain readers are advised to avoid minor roads and tracks when driving, not to attempt to drive through flooded areas and to reduce speed and use headlights.
If possible it is advisable to avoid driving during the predicted weather conditions.
