Residents in the countryside around Calasparra have been put on alert as a gang of burglars with vans and cars destroy homes and steal valueables.
The Head of Citizen Security, Jose Velez, has announced that security has been reinforced and that he has demanded reinforcements for the local police from the Government Delegate.
He has also warned residents living in the “campo” to be alert for any vehicles or strangers loitering around properties and appeals to the public to report any strange situation or vehicles to the local police.
There have been a total of 10 burglaries in this latest crime wave to hit the countryside around Calasparra and residents have reported significant damage to property and the loss of valueables.
The same gang are suspected of being the perpetrators using vans and cars to transport stolen property after breaking in by forcing doors, grills and windows while residents are out.
Velez reports that investigations have begun into the gang who are suspected of operating all over the North East Murcia region.
