Tomorrow, December 28, is the Day of the Innocent Saints (Los Santos Inocentes) and a very special local, traditional character and his band will be lifting the mood with his jokes and games.
Juan Pelotero and his band of “Innocents” will occupy the streets of Calasparra tomorrow. His band consists of a “clerk”, a “judge” and a “prison guard”. They carry a sceptre, “el libro anejo” (local census) and a turkey feather quill: symbols of municipal authority which they use to issue fines for ridiculous “crimes” or allow the victim to nominate a victim of their own.
