Two local minors have been arrested by the police who suspect their implication in a dozen robberies from cars in Calasparra.
The police mounted an investigation following various complaints from local residents who reported that their car windows had been smashed and valuables stolen from inside their vehicles.
According to the police the robberies caused “ great alarm in the local community.”t
Sources at the Town Hall confirm that a police patrol was called to a theft from a vehicle in the early hours of August 13. When they arrived at the scene they saw a minor, wearing a balaclava, attempting to flee the scene of the crime.
The youth was arrested and, when he was searched, articles for use in the thefts were found in his possession. These included a large screwdriver, a multiuse penknife, a torch and a hammer.
A second youth, also a minor, with various previous convictions for robbery, was arrested later.
The two youths have appeared before the Juvenile Judicial Authority in Murcia.
