A team of students and professors from a German university under the direction of an American scientist from the University of Berkeley, California, are currently in Calasparra investigating the Puerta Cave.
The team, led by Dr. Luis Gibert and the scientist, Gary Scott, both from Berkeley, will take samples in order to try and accurately place the date of the cave in our history.
These analyses are being used for the first time in the Murcia region in order to trace when the cavity was formed as well as measure the magnetic polarity and the climatic changes of the region.
The Puerta Cave is one of just two caves selected for the experiments in the region. The samples taken will be compared to those taken in the United States. The results will be published for the world of science and officially presented in our region.
