There will be a special ceremony in the gardens of the Casa de la Cultyura on Saturday evening to pay homage to seven Calaspaarrians who were prisoners of war in Nazi concentration camps.
The ceremony will be at 7pm.
This memorial was approved unanimously at a full Town Hall Council Meeting.
The motion read.” These sons of Calasparra who died and suffered all kinds of torture and calamities in their fight against the fascist aggression of Hitler and Franco, and who died while defending their ideals of liberty and democracy in our country and in Europe, and who must remain forever in our memories.”
The motion goes on to establish a part of the gardens at the Casa de la Cultura as a permanent memorial.
There will also be a commemoration of the Second Spanish Republic, held by the local Republicans 14.4, at 7pm on Thursday April 14 in the municipal cemetery.
The ceremony will also be a tribute to Juan José Ciscar Blazquez, a member of the Republicans 14.4 who died a few months ago.
