Antique music, Murcian rock, pasadobles, processions and a delightful evening of Andalusian folk with Flamenco dancing as the Fiestas of the Patron Saints of Calasparra offered something for everyone.
There were 42 entries in the traditionally hard fought Migas Competition and more than 40 participants in the “throwing a grain of rice” and “throwing a grape” competitions.
The Verbana, night of music and dance, was replaced by a talent competitions for the local “peñas” (youth groups) in the Saints Square outside the church.
The highlight of the Fiestas this year was the procession with the Bishop of Cartegena who officially received the “relics” of the Patron Saints Abdón and Senén which have been donated to Calasparra.
The Rociera Choir presented an evening of Andalusian song and dance in the Cine Rosales. This local choir enchanted the audience with traditional Andalusian folk and Flamenco dancing in full Spanish costume.
