Calasparra Town Hall is a member of the work group formed to tackle drug dependency and addictions in North West Murcia formed by Social Services.
The local Head of Political Science, Antonio José Merino, took part in the elaboration of a Plan against Drug Dependency and addictions in this part of the Murcia region at a meeting yesterday.
The work group is formed by representatives of all the Town Halls in NW Murcia, local police, guardia civil, voluntary specialist groups, representatives of Youth Departments in local authorities, medical staff, and representatives of the Social Services Department for this part of the region.
Prevention of drug dependency and other addictions is one of the main aims of the work group, in addition to raising awareness, in order to improve coordination of preventions measures in the area.
Yesterday, the group produced a draft plan prioritizing measures to be taken over the next four years.
“We have to promote the rejection of drugs and the acceptance of different ways of enjoying leisure and socializing,” says Antoniio Merino, “The prevention of addictions is something that we are concerned about and we must look for urgent solutions. Working in a coordinated way and being sure that we have a plan for NW Murcia will be very positive for the local area.”
