TOWN HALL MARK INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Calasparra Town Hall marked the International Day for the Elimination of Domestic Violence in the Plaza Emilio Perez Piñero where a “traffic sign” plaque: “Stop Male Chauvinist Violence” was erected.
The sign will remain in the square so that the message of today, November 25, continues throughout the year.
A manifesto was read by the Head of the local Department of Equality, Cristina Ruiz, who commented: “Too many women continue to suffer violence just because they are women. There have been 1074 victims of domestic violence (DV) in Spain since 2003: the year we began to count the numbers of deaths due to DV. And there are hundreds of thousands of women who suffer violence every day at the hands of their partners or ex-partners. This makes the security and the freedom of women of the principal problems we face in our country today.”
After the manifesto the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, with councilors, Cristina Ruiz, Antonio Merino and Juan Jose Lopez, shared a minute´s silence for the murdered women: victims of domestic violence.
