The Met Office is warning that today, Wednesday, the temperatures will be “hellish,” probably exceeding 40 degrees centigrade.
Their advice is to sit out this heat wave somewhere cool and avoid going outside between 12 midday and 8pm tonight.
The good news is that Andy Murray is playing this afternoon at Wimbledon and the match could last until the afternoon cools off!!
The official advice in order to survive the heat is:
Drink lots of liquids but avoid alcohol, tea, coffee and sugary drinks.
Stay in the shade or a cool place and have a cold shower or bath to cool off.
Lower the Persian blinds and close windows during the hottest part of the day.
Eat light! Salads, fruit, vegetables, gazpacho and fruit juices.
If you have to go outside stay in the shade, wear light clothing in pale colours, use sun cream, hats and sunglasses.
Wear comfortable, cool shoes.
Use sun creams of at least factor 15 and repeat frequently.
In case of emergency call 061 or 112.
