There is a recycling centre in Calasparra but it seems there are some people either don´t know or don´t care.
Nexonr is aware that many readers find the littering of the beautiful countryside around Calasparra painful and now the Head of the local Department of the Environment has mounted an awareness campaign.
As the International Day of the Environment approaches on June 5 local councilor, Juan Bernal, responsible for the environment in Calasparra, has warned that people will be fined for fly tipping and littering.
“There are local waste facilities close by and containers for all types of rubbish. It is very sad that residents behave this way. Culprits should bear in mind we will search for them and fine those responsible” he warned.
The tree lined road that runs parallel to the Consum supermarket and the area behind it have become favourite spots for fly tippers who act with apparent impunity repeatedly dumping rubbish.
Various residents have complained about the area being “abandoned” and have demanded action.
“We need to avoid scenes like these,” says Bernal, indicating the phot6ots which feature here with this article.
Editors Note
If readers come across rubbish dumped in the countryside send Nexonr a photo with a reference to the exact spot and we will publish it and send the information to the Town Hall.
