THE RAIN IN SPAIN ………….

Compared to many other Spanish provinces, Murcia, and in particular Calasparra, has got away very lightly after over a week of pouring rain.
In many other areas, including Almeria, there has been large scale flooding, and in the North of Spain the fruit tree flowers are covered in snow!!
Having said that, to date, a substantial 85 litres of rain has fallen per square metre since last Tuesday and, in the last 24 hours 14.5 litres has fallen per square metre.
Whilst it is good new for the region´s reservoirs, which before the rains stood at almost half capacity, the fields, gardens and footpaths around Calasparra are completely sodden. According a new forecast by the Met Office we might have to wait until Thursday for them to begin to dry out as more “light rain” is forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday.
