In the last 24 hours there have been 10 earthquakes in the Murcia region mainly centred on Caravaca and Moratalla.
There were nine intense tremors in less than five hours, seven of these had their epicentro in Moratalla, and one, the first and strongest (3.1 on the Richter scale) was at 5.48am in Caravaca, according to the National Geographic Institute. This was followed at 5.51am by a tremor of 1.6 on the Richter scale with the epicentre in Moratalla.
In Moratalla there were seven more tremors: 6.01am (2.4); three minutes later (2.3); and only one minute later (1.6). Five minutes of respite was followed by a tremor of 2.1 at 6.10am.
An hour of tranquillity in Moratalla was followed by a tremor of 2.7 at 7.36am and at 9.09am there was a replica of 1.5 and another at 10.31 of 1.8.
Most the tremors occurred at a depth of 5 to 11 kilometres,except one which was at 59 kilometres,. This depth substantially cushions their effect and tremors rarely cause any structural damage,
There are no reports of tremors being felt here in Calasparra.
