The current management of the Calasparra Bull Ring will be replaced after a massive row over the cancellation of the “Novilladas” (bull fights with horses) on July 30, the Day of the Patron Saints of Calasparra.
The former management received a “harsh” letter of complaint from the local Taurino Association and an avalanche of complaints from associations and individuals following its decision to replace the traditional “novilladas” at the end of July with bull fights without horses.
The decision to change the management of the bull ring comes as the September bull fighting festival of Calasparra is just around the corner and the bull ring management has already finalized the “cartels” (list of bull fighters and stockbreeders who will supply the bulls) for the “Espiga de Oro” Fiesta.
