Residents and staff at the Esperanza Residence for the Elderly in Calasparra have been given the all clear for Covid-19 after a hospital in patient returned to the centre and tested positive.
The resident, who had been discharged from the hospital in Caravaca, arrived in Calasparra with a negative Covid-19 test result but was transferred to an isolation unit as part of the extreme measures at the Residence to guard against the spread of the virus.
On Thursday the patient´s temperature rose and a subsequent antigen test proved positive for Covid-19.
All residents were immediately confined to their rooms and given a PCR test for the virus. The staff at the Residence were also tested. Both residents and workers proved negative for the virus.
A technical representative from the Coordination of Centres attended the Residence to support the precautionary measures and procedures in place.
The Residence continues to employ extreme measures and antigen tests where there is any suspicion or symptom of the virus amongst residences or staff .
Calasparra Town Hall has demonstrated appreciation for the good management at the Residence and the rapid and efficient actions taken in the last few days.
“We thank you for your dedication and work in the light of the health crisis,” said a spokesperson.
