The Association of Families and Friends of People with Disabilities, AFADLE, mounted a stall in the Gran Via today to capture associates to fund their work with people with mental illnesses in the community.
The Association provides physical, cognItive and social rehabilitation, aimed at halting functional deterioration and isolation, and assists members to function as part of the local community.
Among its activities are workshops and services such as cognitive stimulation, orientation and social habits. Individual consultations and psychological support also aims to promote good health and improve quality of life.
There is also a Families School which offers advice to improve the quality of life of the whole family.
On the stand you can buy tickets for the Christmas draw, sign on as an associate and get information on the workings of the Association.
The headquarters and centre of activities of AFADL is the Nuevo Pozo Social Centre.
