STREET THEATRE AND STORY TELLING

Christmas is the time for Juan Pelotero to make his annual appearance in Calasparra with music, street theatre and story telling.
Each year a competition is open to all Calasparrians to assume the role of Juan Pelotero and design a programme of activities. This year the role has been given to local actress, Pepa Robles.
On the Day of Juan Pelotero and the Innocents, December 28, it is traditional to carry out mock ransoms in the street, fining residents for imaginary offences.
This year there will be three days of activities, December 28, 29 and 30, dedicated to literature and storytelling for all ages.
On December 28 and 29 activities will be in central Calasparra over the lunchtime period of 12.30 to 1.30pm and on December 30 there will be a special Horror Story telling at the Puerta Cave for young people and adults. Places are limited. Sign on at the Tourist Office and get the bus from the Fuente de Secano at 4pm.
