The electricity companies will refund an average of 34 euros to customers on the next electricity bill to compensate for the amounts overpaid in the last quarter when the wholesale price was less than the price fixed by the Government in December.
The wholesale market closed the quarter with an average price of 26,09 euros a megawatt (33,62 euros in January, 17,12 euros in February, and 26,67 euros in March) well below the 48,48 euros per megawatt set by the Government for this period.
The Minister of Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, has said that that a total of 300 million euros must be refunded.
