Seven long years after the swollen river Segura destroyed the lower terraces at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope repair work may be started before the end of the year.
Six companies have tendered for the 278,000 euros project to rebuild 175 metres of terrace and restore the river bank over a period of four months.
A decision will be taken within next two months.
The project is funded by the FEDER fund.
According to the PSOE this situation has existed since 2013 and despite repeated assurances from different Director Generals and Councilors at the regional government the Sanctuary has been abandoned for seven years.
“ We support this decision but it comes very, very late,” says a spokesperson for the PSOE.
