More than 17,000 Covid-19 contagions diagnosed in 24 hours and over 800 deaths in seven days.
These are the shocking statistics released by public health authorities on Saturday.
The statistics showed 2,252,164 confirmed cases nationally, 17,039 of which were diagnosed in 24 hours.
The fatalities from the virus total 53,314, 828 of which occurred in seven days.
The third wave is upon us and numbers increase daily. Public Health experts are asking us to self-isolate and only socialise with people we live with in an effort to halt the progress of the epidemic and relieve the strain on hospitals.
Bars and restaurants are closed as are the municipal and regional perimeters.
The President of the regional government has asked the national government to approve earlier curfews (currently 10pm is the earliest start time although some regions have already introduced curfews starting at 6 or 8pm I contrary to the conditions set by the State of Alarm) and confinement of whole regions or municipal areas.
