SERIOUS INJURY AT FIRST BULL RUN

A runner from Molino was seriously gored in the buttock and back during the first bull run of the September fiestas on Sunday.
The injured man, aged 49 years, suffered a wound of some 40 centimeters which narrowly missed his kidney.
After an emergency operation in the field hospital, set up at the bull ring, he was transferred to the La Vega Hospital in Murcia.
The incident took place in Calle Ordoñez.
Two other people were treated for slight injuries: 38 year old Oscar Perez Ruiz, pastor during the event and President of the newly formed Fans and Runners Association; and 22 year-old Daniel Yelo Villa from Cieza.
The run, watched by thousands of people who crammed into the narrow streets and mounted the barriers, was fast at two minutes and 40 seconds.
The morning begun with a walk along the bull run by the Encierros Commission, led by the Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez.
