Officers from the Natural Protection Service (SEPRONA) have visited Calasparra to take a samples from the river Argos after local residents reported foul smells and turpid water in the Cuesta Blanca area.
The officers are investigating a possible spill of sewage water into the river to ascertain if illegal tipping of sewage water is the cause of the smell and cloudy water.
Calasparra Town Hall has explained that they await the result of the investigation and confirm that they have contacted the Water Board about the alleged illegal spill.
