Some 90 people took part in Geolodía 13, a day with geological experts and an opportunity to explore and learn about the effect of natural disasters on the formation of the local landscape.
Participants walked from Calasparra to the Sanctuary stopping off at various geological sites including the Socovos fault line, from which our mountain ranges originated. In the afternoon the party visited the Puerta Cave.
Geolodía 13 was part sponsored by Calasparra Town Hall, Qalat, the Sanctuary and FECYT and was organised by the Spanish Geological Society with the collaboration of the Spanish Institute of Geology and Mining (IGME) and the Spanish Foundation of Science and Technology (FCYT).
