The Theatre Group from the local High School Emilio Pérez Piñero has raised more than 700 euros destined for a two year old Calasparrian who suffers from a rare form of progressive spinal muscular distrophy.
Little Paola´s grandmother, Encarna Sanchez, accepted the donation of 737 euros underlining that the family received no financial help under the Dependence Law for her granddaughter.
The Theatre Group raised the money through their production of “Bang, Bang…You are Dead” in the Municipal Auditorium during a week of activities to mark International Women´s Day.
The funds will help ensure that Paola recieves the rehabilitation which aids her well being and relieves the deterioration of her muscles.
Her grandmother called on the public administrations to fund research into rare diseases and conditions like the one that affects Paola adding that “families like Paola´s are forced to seek funds themselves to pay for the therapies their family members need.”
