Carnival time is here again and that can only mean one
thing…the residents of Calasparra are getting ready to scandalize and amuse,
often seeking anonymity in a town where everyone knows everyone´s business.
Its sheer good fun! Time
to let your hair down behind a mask! The fun and frolics of the Carnival in
Calasparra are legendary. Be prepared to be shocked and surprised but always…..in
the worse possible taste.
The substitute Mayoress, Teresa Garcia and her deputy, Antonio Merino, officially
presented this year´s carnival at a Press Conference in the Town Hall yesterday.
The processions and fancy dress competitions will be on Saturday February 29.
The nocturnal procession will begin at 9.30pm and there will be live music and dancing
in central town.
But carnival is not just for adults. The children of the town will show off
their costumes in a special parade on Tuesday February 25 with floats starting
from Calle Higinio Garcia, travelling along Avenida Juan Ramon Jimenez to the
Plaza de la Corredera and then down the Gran Via to a special carnival party in
the Cine Rosales.
On a night when total madness is on the agenda this is a not to miss date for your diary.
