The seasonal sales and the drop in petrol prices have contributed to lower inflation in the region of Murcia this month with the retail price index (IPC) only one tenth of a percentage point higher.
Over the previous two months inflation had risen by 2.8% according to official figures and over the year prices in the region have increased by 0.3%.
The main prices increases during August were in tourist and leisure sector including hotels, cafes and restaurant (0.6%) and on alcoholic drinks by 0.1%.
Prices of alcoholic drinks, tobacco, housing and communications were frozen and some products actually cost less: clothing and shoes (0.8%); medicine (0.5%); transport (0.4%); and haberdashery (0.2%).
