The RM-714 which runs between Calasparra and the Venta del Olivo tops the list of dangerous roads in North East Murcia which have registered the highest number of fatal road accidents in the region this summer.
The other road designated most dangerous in the region is the section of the RM-730 between Caravaca with Barranda and specifically the section near Puebla de Don Fabrique.
Six people have died in road accidents in North East Murcia in the last two months and 11 have lost their lives during the summer.
Last February five young men died in a tragic accident on the Venta del Olivo road: two from Calasparra.
The speed limit on these roads is 60 kph and the Guardia Civil carry out speed checks daily. However, the poor visibility, a number of dangerous crossroads and different cambers are blamed for the elevated number of fatal accidents.
Recently plans to widen the RM -714 and the RM – 730 were put on permanent hold due to the financial crisis and cost cutting measures.
