The steps and removal of barriers in the river Segura, carried out by the Segura Water Board, are bearing fruit, as experts detect 3,000 more fish migrating freely to complete their cycles of reproduction.
This was precisely the aim of the Life+ Segura Riverlink Project, which has placed six “steps” in the Cieza, Abarán and Calasparra stretches of the river.
Evaluating the efficacy of the steps are members of the Department of Zoology and Physical Anthrophy at the Murcia U(niversity and the group, Ecohidráulica Aplicada, which forms part of the Technological Agrian and Agricultural Centre (Itagra).
