Gas companies have called an urgent meeting in response to an extremely well organised fraud by non authorized companies carrying out inspections in people´s homes.
The Association of Gas Distributors has warned its members that non authorised “gas inspectors” are posing as Repsol service officials to carry out inspections.
The fraudsters have perfected their crime by using names similar to bonafide Repsol officials; wearing the orange shirts of the multinational corporation and identifying themselves as “los del butano” ( gas men).
In order to combat this fraud the affected companies have agreed to use a burofax model and a special notice requirement to differentiate between the official gas inspectors and the fraudsters.
Customers are warned not to let any inspectors access their homes without contacting their supplier and checking that they are official. If there are any suspicious gas inspectors making the rounds in your area please contact your supplier and the local police.
