Work to restore the river Banks to their natural state with plants and trees typical of the Murcia region is well advanced and yesterday the Town Hall took deliver of a further 800 poplars, oleanders, tamarisk and hackberries.
The trees have been donated by the Naturalists Association of SE Murcia, ANSE, and form part of a Project to replant in the area between the Iron Bridge and the Bridge on the Cuesta Blanca.
ANSE, the Segura Water Board and the Department of Environment at the Town Hall are jointly organizing the reforestation which will restore species of plants and trees which have disappeared from the local area for one reason or another.
