REGIONAL HEALTH WARNS OF “HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS” OMICRON

As the number of Covid cases in the Murcia region continues to soar and seven people die of the virus in the last 24 hours, the regional Health Authority has warned of the “highly contagious nature of the variant, Omicron.
There were 500 more new cases diagnosed in the last 24 hours compared to the previous 24 hours and 23 more Covid patients admitted to regional hospitals.
The incidence per 100,000 head of population has risen from 900 seven days ago to 1,516.
Some 60% of the most serious Covid cases in hospital were not vaccinated.
Of the seven fatalities, five were men and two were women, aged 64, 84, 85, 57, 94 and 81 years.
