The Director General of Roads for the region, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, has announced an investment of 175,000 euros to eliminate long grass and clean up ditches along roads in Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Moratalla, and Cehegín.
The clean up aims to improve visibility and drainage along the the surface of the roads.
Most of the work will be manual, although machinery will be used where there are no obstacles, and includes clearing weeds etc which obscure traffic signs.
Some 672 kilometres of roadside will be cleared in local and neighbouring areas.
