The regional government of Murcia wants to implant a region wide curfew in an attempt to try and curb the increasing number of Covid-19 contagions and has applied to the TSJ (Superior Tribunal of Justice) for an order today.
The Government Executive is seeking the support of the tribunals to avoid any problems and legal challenges to the introduction of a curfew beginning at 11pm and ending at 6am.
Introducing a curfew aims to cut social contacts given that the majority of new infections are traced back to family reunions and social gatherings.
The regional President, Fernando Lopez Miras, has relayed his decision to the Mayors of the 45 municipal areas in the region and advised them of the necessity to curb social contacts in order to minimize contagions by Covid-19.
Several municipal areas in the region (Molino del Seguro, Cieza, Torre Pacheco, Beniel, and Bullas) are experiencing “worrying increases in the number of infections,” he added.
