RE-USE, REDUCE AND RECYCLE

Three small words that sum up the fight to save the planet whih were part of the message from OMIC (The Consumer Office) for the residents of Calasparra on the International Day of the Consumer last Saturday.
This year the pupils of Las Pedreras Primary School reminded us the importance of putting into practice these three words: re-use, recycle and reduce, by transforming rubbish into toys and games. The children exhibited various toys and games such as pick a stick, cars and even a mini Plaza del Toros.
At a presentation the Head of Consumer Affairs at the Town Hall, Maria Dolores Gomariz, and the Head of the Consumer Office (OMIC) Esperanza Marín, reminded consumers of the vital role they play in the future of the planet.
“Lamentably everything around us has a very short expirty date and our planet cannot absorb more rubbish. Let´s follow the children´s example and not look the other way,” said Esperanza Marin.
Maria Dolores Gomariz encouraged people to buy local goods and fresh produce to keep packaging to a mínimum.
