Yesterday
the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, addressed the residents of
Calasparra by video about the Covid-19 virus epidemic. Today there is a transcript
in English on the municipal Facebook page, Ayuntamiento de Calasparra.
For our readers who do not use Facebook we print the English transcript below.
However, here at Nexonr, we would like to thank the Mayoress and all her team
for taking the time to address English speaking residents in their own language.
If you read the item on Faebook please like and share.
PUBLIC ADDRESS BY THE MAYORESS
Greetings,
I am getting in contact with you today to tell you about the situation in our
town following 12 days of the State of Alarm and during which the Town Hall has
introduced the first package of extraordinary measures to minimize the economic
impact on citizens and businesses affected by the universal health crisis, and
we are working on a second package.
We continue to disinfect the public roads in our town, prioritizing the area
near the OAPs Residence and the Health Centre.
We are very grateful to the Protection Civil for the great effort and work they
are carrying out as well as to the Municipal Services and the farmers who have
offered to collaborate with these measures.
We are in contact with the Director of the OAPs Residence, Nuestra Señora de la
Esperanza , who is carrying out great work and making a grand effort to carry
out the necessary protocols, on many occasions in advance of the requirements.
We would like to give our thanks to all the workers for the great efforts they
are making in these difficult times to maintain contagious cases in the
Residence at zero.
The Health Centre also inform us that the line of work they are carrying out is
very positive. They are attending to everyone who need medical attention and
are very happy with the response of the residents.
They are a great team, totally coordinated, and are carrying out great work to
limit the propagation of this virus. I am asking all of the residents to
respect and help all of these professionals so that they can continue this
great work they are carrying out, and to try not to go to the Health Centre
unless it is absolutely necessary. Residents should call the Health Centre by
telephone, secure in the knowledge they will attend to your needs and follow up
your case exhaustively by phone. Residents are also asked to follow all the
measures recommended and take note of all recommendations.
We are working in close collaboration with the security forces, staying in
contact 24 hours a day in order to keep informed of any incident which may occur
in our town. We maintain the Round Table of Police Coordination, which puts in
place the necessary measures to deal with possible incidents that are occurring
in Calasparra. We would also like to thank all of them for their great work and
the grand effort they are making.
I am aware of the concerns of all of you to know the number of people affected
by covid-19 in our town. We don´t have official figures because the reginal
government does not provide them. Moreover, these figures are of a personal
nature and are not disclosable.
We are aware that there are positive cases for covid-19 in our town. We know
this on a personal level and we send them a grand embrace and much
encouragement to overcome these difficult times and to let them know they can
depend on us. The Town Hall stands by their side to help them in any way
possible.
I can inform you of the statistics provided last night by the Murcian Health
Service on a regional and local level. The total number of people affected in
the region is 596, with 415 patients in isolation, 172 admitted to hospital, 36
in Intensive Care, eight deceased and more than 3,800 tested. The good news is
that nine people have been cured.
In the hospital of Caravaca there are six hospital admission: all adults.
We send encouragement to all of you. Keep your distance, take special personal
hygiene measures and take note of all the indications that we give you.
Once again we ask for your collaboration to keep an eye on elderly residents.
If you have elderly neighbours or family members make sure they know they are not
forgotten. Call them by phone, remind them that you care in these times which
are so difficult. Try to alleviate their solitude for a few moments. Give the
telephone number for the Attention of the Elderly at the Town Hall (670257628)
to elderly people, dependents and those with serious medical conditions who
need our help to buy basic provisions or anything else they need.
Once again we call for responsibility. If we follow the recommendations of the
Health Authorities we are sure that we will be able to slow down the rising
curve of contagions.
Let´s look after everyone and especially those people who make the effort every
day to go out onto the streets to make sure we have everything we need.
We send you our encouragement. Take advantage of this times to enjoy family
life and please stay at home.
Between us all we will stop this virus.
