Each year in May the statue of Our Lady of Hope is brought down from the Sanctuary to pass the month in Calasparra.
The month begins with the pilgrimage from the Sanctuary to Calasparra and the traditional meeting between the statue of Our Lady of Hope and those of the two Patron saints of the town, Abdón and Señen.
During the month there will be open air masses differnt part of Calasparra. This the full programme of events:-
Every day there will be a masses in St Peter´s Church, the temporary home of the statue of Our Lady of Hope during the month of May at 8am and 8pm.
Thursday May 1
Midday: Rosary in the Sanctuary square
1pm Mass at the Sanctuary
3pm Buses leave from outside Bar Pepon to the Sanctuary
5pm Start of Pilgrimage from Sanctuary to Calasparra
7.30pm La Rondalla of Calasparra will sing and dance outside the gate of the Football Stadium until the arrival of the pilgrimage.
8pm Meeting between statue of Our Lady of Hope and the statues of St Abdón and Señen.
9pm Anointing of the statue in the Merced Church and procession to St Peter´s Church for a mass.
Saturday May 3
8pm. Mass and Food Collection in aid of Caritas. St Peters Church.
Saturday May 10
1pm. Mass to mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Sacred Heart Catholic School led by the Bishop.
8pm. Mass and floral offerings by the Brotherhood of the Patron Saints. St Peters Church.
Saturday May 17
6pm Mass organised by the organising comittee of Easter Week.
6.45pm Procession. Itinerary: Constitución,
Mayor, Lavador, Teniente Flomesta,
Juan Ramón Jiménez, Corredera,
Salzillo, Vázquez, Barrero, Cervantes,
