The Fiestas celebrating the patron saints of Calasparra, Abdón and Senen, are probably the most typical and traditional of the year and are widely supported by the community.
Each year the organizing committee attempts to find new ways of involving more people in this, the people’s fiesta.
This year there is an opportunity for the “peñas” (clubs) in the town to show off their talents, whatever they may be, and maybe win one of the prizes.
Other traditional events are the Night of the Migas, when this local dish is prepared over wood fires in the streets all over Calasparra; the concerts; the procession in traditional dress of the “huerta” (countyside); the Festival of Antique Music and, of course, the throwing of a grain or rice and a grape: all good traditional fun with something for everyone.
