The 2,064 euros raised by the Benefit Gala, organised by the newly formed organisation, Calasparra Solidarity, have already been distrubuted to the four local charities, Caritas, the Red Cross, the Association of Disabled People and the Association of the Friends of the Sahara.
Local charities will use the funds to help and support families in Calasparra who are suffering the effects of the financial crisis and unemployment.
Caritas has told Radio Calasparrra that the current priority is for warm clothing, blankets and footwear, particularly for children.
Anyone can donate clothing direct to Caritas or to the Red Cross. Apart from the HQ the Red Cross have an office in the OAPs Club in the town centre. The junior section of the Partido Popular will also arrange to collect donations from people´s homes. The PP main office is in the Plaza de Emilio Perez Piñero.
