The Government has approved a starting price if 40 euros per megawatt hour for natural gas which will last for 12 months and which will benefit all homes and businesses with regulated contracts.
Previously the price of gas was not fixed and prices have increased as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As the electricity companies use the price of gas to set their tariffs, the price of electricity bills has soared.
This move should reduce electricity bills for customers with regulated contracts by 40% or more.
