The price of petrol is continuing to fall and last week the cost of a litre dropped by 1.25% to 1.337 euros.
Diesel prices also fell by 1.01% to 1,267 euros.
Even though this third consecutive weekly drop in the price of petrol is a welcome break for motorists petrol still costs 6.5% more this year compared to last year with the cost of filling up the average car, with 55 litres, costing 73.53 euros compared to last year´s 64.62.
The drop in petrol prices coincides with the reduced price of a barrel of Brent crude which now stands at 100 dollars.
