The price at the pumps has fallen by 12% since June, according to the EU Petrol Bulletin, and in Murcia, as of August 12, the average price of a litre of petrol was 1.78 euros.
Today, the prices of both petrol and diesel match the minimum price in May, however, compared to the same period last year petrol prices are 17% more expensive and diesel 30%.
According to the bulletin the fall in price is due to uncertainty over demand and the decision by petrol exporters to increase the number of barrels produced to 100,000 daily since September.
The Government discount of 20 cents a litre remains in place.
