Around 250 were wined, dined and entertained at la daya, calasparra on wednesday 18th april as part of the rockin rog’ and rollin’ rik party programme.
As ususal, the food was excellent with service to match. It was just like being back at school with 2nd’s and 3rd’s of chicken and pork being served to the hungry party goers.
Once the meal was out of the way dj tony from retro disco services got the dancing under way with an appropriate song from the mavericks “dance the night away” and that’s what happened from then on. Great music from the 50’s and 60’s proved popular with plenty of sing a longs and moves reminiscent of saturday night fever – move over john! The girls got into the spirit when “its raining men” came on with plenthy of arm waving and joining in when tony stopped for audience participation.
The 2 guys, nick and alan from status duo started their 1st set with guitar skills that were amazing and were well appreciated by the audience, playing a good mix of well known classics and oldies.
More from dj tony had the dancers on the floor again rock ‘n’ rolling, twisting and jiving, don’t know if next time we should have the red cross waiting outside seeing some of the moves that were being executed !
Status Duo came into their own for the next set playing some memorable hits from status quo which had 2 party goers bring out their own guitars to join in on the moves that the quo made so famous – good on you guys for audience participation.
Tony brought the night to a close with some more popular hits of the era and several “smoochies” to calm things (and people) down a bit. Finally at around 12.30am it all came to an end though a few “hardliners” would have gone on for more.
As a small amount of money was left over from the proceeds, a donation of 100euros is going to the mara animal charity.
The next party from rog and rik will be a summer party on july 4th – details to follow.
